February 4th, 2012 Germans in America, part 4 (video presentation) "A People Disappears" Learn about the struggles for cultural survival and how German immigrants dealt with the melting pot that was America. Why was it that this important ethnic group "Americanized" their names and tried to suppress their indentity. March 3rd, 2012 "Travels of Paul Strenberg in Poland and Germany" Join German-American Fellowship Assocation member Paul Sternberg on a photo tour of Poland and Germany. Paul has spoken to GAFA before and brings his snappy humor and attractive photography. Paul started his travels in Nowogard (old Naugard) Pomeranian area photographing churches, cemeteries and manor homes. His travels continue into Germany were he learns of new German discoveries in Poland 66 years after World War II. He motored around the Neustrelitz area visiting castles and palaces. While there he meets with a group of Germans who were born in Pomerania (County Schlochau) and speaks with them about about churches in their county. Paul concludes his travels with a visit to Cologne. |
